Using a camcorder or camera in snow or cold weather
At least two things may concern a camera or camcorder user in snow or cold weather.
1 battery performance
2 condensation
Additionally there may be the problem of storing the data.
1 batteries perform significantly less well in cold conditions. A battery that becomes cold can often fail to power the device.
solutions:
· keep the battery or the entire device in an inside pocket when not in use.
· buy a replacement or reserve battery.

2 there can be a real problem with condensation when a cold device is taken into a warmer environment. This is made worse by the fact that many mountain huts are sanctuary for mountains users, drying out damp clothing in a warm environment. The lens of the cold device in particular will rapidly attract condensation and water will build up within the device.
solutions:
· try not to allow the device to get too cold.
· if the device is cold then try and keep it cold, buried deep in a back-pack, ideally wrapped in a plastic bag.
· allow the cold device to gradually warm in a natural and dry environment.
With a storage card full of data, instead of deleting images there is one ideal way to store data without a laptop or extra memory cards. The Sandisk Mobilemate© allows the user to insert a memory card directly into the usb port of a hotel or internet cafι pc no need for software or cables. Open a gmail account and email the data to yourself, thus freeing up space on the memory card.
Buy the Sandisk Mobilemate at amazon (check which memory card your camera uses):
